Transportation Services

The Woburn COA Transportation Department offers seniors curb-to-curb van service, with a handicap accessible van, from the resident’s home to the Woburn Senior Center or to the Senior Programs at the Woburn Public Library. Please call 781-897-5964 at least 24 hours in advance to request a ride to the Senior Center or to the Library.  Vans operate from 10 am-2 pm Monday-Friday.

The WCOA contracts with Checker Cab of Woburn for the Senior Discount Taxi Program, please contact the Senior Discount Taxi Office (781-897-5970) Monday through Thursday, 10 am-1 pm for more information.

To participate passengers must meet the Woburn Senior Center standards of independence for participation.

Outreach/ Information and Referral

The Outreach Department provides information and referral for legal issues, housing, health care planning, public benefits, food assistance  & other senior issues via telephone, office, and/or home visits. For more information please visit our Outreach Department Page

The Outreach Department can also assist you in making appointments for the following benefit programs run at the senior center:

Legal Assistance with Elder Law Attorney: free 30-minute consultation once a month. Appointments fill quickly.

Fuel Assistance * Available November through March appointments must be made through ABCD 781-322-6284 but will be held at the Woburn Senior Center.

SHINE Counseling

The Woburn Senior Center in partnership with Minuteman Senior Services offers weekly SHINE Counseling appointments to seniors who may have questions regarding their Medicare needs. SHINE counselors can help Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers navigate the complex health insurance options, simplify the language, and explain how the components work, review current coverage; compare costs and benefits of options available and assist those with limited resources enroll in helpful programs. This is a wonderful FREE resource for seniors that could potentially save you money when it comes to the cost of your medical care. To schedule an appointment call 781-897-5960*

Senior Property Tax Work-off Program

An annual program funded by the City of Woburn. Senior Citizens of Woburn work within a Department of the City, to earn a maximum property tax exemption of $1,500.00. Participants must meet specific income eligibility requirements. Income may not exceed $45,000 for a single-family household and $55,000 for a couple.
